I don't mind paying for some in-game perks as long as the curve isn't "you can't be viable in combat unless you drop thousands of dollars worth of credits"Ī more polished combat system that relies less on setting up reflexes (not sure if the same term is universal to muds, basically automated responses to certain things) I've dropped a fair amount of money on Achaea but I'm no whale by any means. Less P2W or at least less pay to be viable. Outside of staff intervention other things I'd like in an alternative mud are mainly (in order of importance):

My ideal ruleset would be anything goes as long as you don't blatantly exploit, dox, or go out of character in in-character situations/channels. If you don't like what someone is doing or saying (as long as it's in-character), you deal with it yourself instead of issuing the admins to shrub them. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for MUDs that are similar to Achaea where it's more "hands off". Although I haven't been shrubbed/banned since I first started with IRE games as a dumb teenager, it just kills the vibe for me whenever I see it happen. Too many bans are handed out for what could have been interesting in-game conflicts instead, and I've seen a few people shrubbed or banned in-game for drama that happened in the forum/discord/dms. And without mentioning anything or anyone in particular, the staff is far too heavy-handed for my liking. I've been playing Achaea on/off for over a decade now and while I love it, it's grown a bit stale for me.
